An MRI showed Surtain avoided a serious injury after he went down without contact in San Francisco. The receiver Bryant has an ankle sprain.
Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II avoided a major injury to his right ankle, sources said after an MRI on Monday. The injury is expected to be short term, though no return date has been given.
What happened?
Surtain fell without contact during Sunday's 24-14 loss at San Francisco, grabbed his ankle and was helped to the locker room. He missed the second half. The 2024 Defensive Player of the Year is the centerpiece of Denver's coverage plan every week.
Who else is hurt?
Receiver Pat Bryant sprained his ankle in the same game and is expected to miss a few weeks. He is second on the team with 133 receiving yards on nine catches. Denver is 2-2 and visits the winless Chargers on Sunday.
