Steelers' Jalen Ramsey, Joey Porter Jr. Placed on PUP List
Ramsey is dealing with a knee injury from minicamp that GM Omar Khan says won't require surgery, while Porter aggravated his back during a camp mobility workout.
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive backs Jalen Ramsey and Joey Porter Jr. both opened training camp on the physically unable to perform list. Ramsey is recovering from a knee injury suffered during minicamp, while Porter aggravated his back during a mobility workout Tuesday morning.
How serious is Ramsey's injury?
General manager Omar Khan said the three-time All-Pro's knee injury does not require surgery and that he expects Ramsey to be sidelined for roughly a couple of weeks. Ramsey was initially placed on PUP alongside second-year defensive back Donte Kent when camp opened.
What happened to Porter?
Porter's issue surfaced separately, when he aggravated his back during Tuesday's mobility workout. The Steelers announced his addition to the PUP list that afternoon, after initially only naming Ramsey and Kent to the list earlier in the day.
Will either miss regular-season time?
The team does not currently anticipate either player missing regular-season games because of these injuries, framing both situations as short-term camp absences rather than long-term concerns. Both are expected to rejoin practice once cleared.
