After a rocky final season in New Orleans got him released, undrafted kicker Blake Grupe found his footing again in Indianapolis, going a perfect 11-for-11 on field goals down the stretch.

Blake Grupe went from Arkansas State to a standout final season at Notre Dame before landing with the Saints as an undrafted free agent. A midseason release in 2025 looked like it might end his run in New Orleans for good, but a fresh start with the Colts brought some of the best kicking of his career.

Path to the league

Grupe played the bulk of his college career at Arkansas State before transferring to Notre Dame for his final season in 2022, where he went a perfect 49-for-49 on extra points and 14-of-19 on field goals under current Colts special teams coordinator Brian Mason. He signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Grupe spent three seasons as the Saints' primary kicker, converting 75 of 94 field goal attempts, and hit a franchise-record 60-yard field goal in Seattle. His accuracy peaked in 2024 at 87.1 percent before dipping in 2025.

2025 season recap

Grupe struggled early in New Orleans, missing two field goals in a Week 12 loss to Atlanta that led to his release after going 18-of-26 on field goals (69.2 percent) through 11 games. He signed with the Colts practice squad in December and was elevated to the active roster, finishing the year red-hot at 11-of-11 on field goals and 10-of-10 on extra points over his final five games.
