Path to the league
Waitman was born in Ghent, Belgium, the son of professional basketball player Jose Waitman, and moved to the United States at age 15, settling in Florida. He punted for South Alabama from 2014 to 2018, earning First-team All-Sun Belt honors in 2017, and signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
