Erik McCoy has been New Orleans's starting center since the Saints drafted him in 2019, developing into one of the league's best interior linemen when available. Injuries have increasingly interrupted his seasons, but his play when on the field remains among the position's best.
Path to the league
McCoy started 39 games at Texas A&M and earned Second-Team All-SEC honors as a senior. The Saints selected him in the second round, 48th overall, of the 2019 NFL Draft, and he started all 16 games as a rookie en route to PFWA All-Rookie Team honors.
Career highlights
McCoy signed a five-year, $63.75 million extension with New Orleans in September 2022. He earned Pro Bowl selections following the 2023 and 2024 seasons, becoming the first Saints center to be honored twice, and has started all 88 regular-season games he's appeared in for New Orleans.
2025 season recap
McCoy's 2025 season ended early for the second straight year. He played seven games before suffering a season-ending torn biceps in a Week 7 loss to the Bears. Before the injury, he was the highest-graded pass-blocking center in the league, posting an 83.2 PFF pass-blocking grade on 276 snaps and allowing no sacks.
