A ball-hawking Utah product who racked up ten interceptions in Indianapolis before continuing his career in New Orleans.

Julian Blackmon built his reputation as one of the more productive turnover-generating safeties of his draft class during a five-year run with the Colts. After moving on to New Orleans, a shoulder injury cut his first season there short, and he's now working to reestablish himself as a difference-maker on the back end.

Path to the league

Blackmon began his Utah career at cornerback, earning Second-Team All-Pac-12 honors in 2017 and 2018, before shifting to safety as a senior in 2019 and earning Associated Press Second-Team All-American and First-Team All-Pac-12 recognition after tying for the conference lead with four interceptions. The Indianapolis Colts drafted him 85th overall in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Over five seasons in Indianapolis, Blackmon played in 66 games with 62 starts, recording 293 tackles, ten interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 21 passes defensed and four fumble recoveries, establishing himself as one of the more productive ball-hawking safeties in the league.

2025 season recap

Blackmon signed with New Orleans for the 2025 season but saw his year end early. He started the opener against Arizona on September 7, recording seven tackles and a pass breakup, before a torn labrum suffered in that game landed him on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.
