Mansoor Delane spent three seasons at Virginia Tech before a standout lone year at LSU turned him into one of the most coveted cornerbacks in the 2026 draft class. The Chiefs moved up to secure him with the sixth overall pick, handing him a four-year contract and immediate expectations to anchor the outside of Kansas City's secondary.

Path to the league

Delane started his college career at Virginia Tech in 2022, where he earned FWAA freshman All-American honors, and played there through the 2024 season. He transferred to LSU for 2025, and the Chiefs traded picks Nos. 9, 74 and 148 to move up and select him sixth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Over three seasons at Virginia Tech, Delane totaled 146 tackles and six interceptions, capped by a third-team All-ACC selection in 2024. In his only season at LSU he was named a unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC after allowing just 14 catches on 357 coverage snaps while defending 13 passes and intercepting two more.

2025 season recap

Delane's 2025 season at LSU was the best of his college career, with 45 tackles, 11 pass deflections and two interceptions that established him as one of the top cover corners in the country. That performance vaulted him into top-10 draft consideration and ultimately made him the Chiefs' first pick of the 2026 draft.
