Tanor Bortolini is a center who made the switch from guard late in his college career at Wisconsin and quickly turned that versatility into a starting NFL job. A fourth-round pick of the Colts in 2024, injuries thrust him into action as a rookie and he has been fighting to lock down the position ever since.
Path to the league
Bortolini played four seasons at Wisconsin, starting at guard before moving to center for his senior year in 2023, when he posted the highest Pro Football Focus grade on the team and earned third-team All-Big Ten honors. The Colts drafted him in the fourth round, 117th overall, in 2024.
Career highlights
Bortolini earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors as a junior at Wisconsin in 2022 after allowing just one sack. As a rookie with the Colts, an injury to starter Ryan Kelly pushed him into the lineup in Week 4, and he delivered a key block on a Jonathan Taylor touchdown run in his first extended action.
2025 season recap
Bortolini entered his second NFL season looking to solidify the Colts' starting center job, bringing experience at center, guard and even some right tackle. Through his first two seasons he has appeared in 28 games with 21 starts, developing into one of Indianapolis's more versatile offensive linemen.
