Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez filed a motion to plead guilty in his Indianapolis assault case, days before his trial was set to begin, with prosecutors and his defense jointly requesting a hearing date in November for him to enter the plea and be sentenced.

Nick Sanchez Jr., Mark Sanchez's brother and legal adviser, called it "a positive development," saying, "We are finalizing an agreement with the prosecutor's office that provides a path toward resolving the state's case," and that there is "real momentum toward bringing this entire chapter to a close." He added they're encouraged by conversations on a related civil matter, a separate lawsuit filed by the truck driver against Sanchez and Fox Sports alleging permanent injury and emotional distress.
