Ex-NFLPA Lawyer Settles Part of Retaliation Lawsuit Against Union
Heather McPhee, the union's former associate general counsel, has resolved her claims against the NFLPA and its general counsel, though claims against two other former officials remain unresolved.
Heather McPhee, the NFLPA's former longtime associate general counsel, has settled her lawsuit's claims against the union and its general counsel Tom DePaso, according to a federal court filing. Settlement terms were not disclosed.
What did the lawsuit allege?
McPhee accused the NFLPA, then-executive director Lloyd Howell, DePaso, and Players Inc. president Matt Curtin of retaliation, sex discrimination, breach of fiduciary duty, and attempting to block her from cooperating with a federal grand jury investigating NFLPA and MLBPA finances. The discrimination and retaliation claims alone were valued at $10 million in the suit.
Is the case fully resolved?
No. McPhee's settlement covers only her claims against the NFLPA and DePaso. Her claims against Howell and Curtin remain unresolved, according to the court filing.
