Vikings Rule Out Justin Jefferson Against Dolphins With Ankle Sprain
Jefferson did not practice all week and his streak of 39 straight games ends. Kevin O'Connell hopes to have him back at practice next week ahead of New Orleans.
Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson will miss Sunday's game against Miami with the left ankle sprain he suffered in the first quarter at Tampa Bay. He did not practice this week.
When could he return?
Possibly next week against the Saints. O'Connell said Jefferson is "definitely feeling better" and that "the goal is try to get him back out there practicing next week." The absence ends a run of 39 consecutive games; he had a 55-game streak before a hamstring injury in 2023. Jefferson has 13 catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns in three games.
Who gets the targets?
Jordan Addison, who had 90 yards and a 41-yard touchdown after Jefferson left last week, becomes the top option, with Jauan Jennings in three-receiver sets. The unbeaten Vikings managed seven first downs without Jefferson in Tampa, and they face an 0-3 Dolphins team that just lost De'Von Achane for the season.
