Aaron Banks anchored the 49ers' interior offensive line for four seasons before signing with Green Bay as an unrestricted free agent. The Bay Area native was a consensus All-American at Notre Dame and has started dozens of NFL games at left guard, including in a 49ers offense that once produced four different 1,000-yard skill players in the same season.
Path to the league
Banks started 31 of 38 games across four years at Notre Dame from 2017 to 2020 and earned first-team All-America recognition from the Associated Press as a senior in 2020. The San Francisco 49ers drafted the Alameda, California native in the second round, 48th overall, of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Banks appeared in 53 games with 43 starts at left guard for San Francisco from 2021 to 2024, adding seven more playoff appearances. He was a key blocker in the 49ers' historic 2023 offense, the first team in NFL history to feature a running back, two receivers, and a tight end who all topped 1,000 scrimmage yards in the same season.
2025 season recap
Banks left San Francisco in free agency and signed with the Green Bay Packers on March 18, 2025, bringing his starting-caliber left guard play to a new offensive line room for the 2025 season.
