Andres "Andy" Borregales left Miami as the program's all-time points leader before New England made him the first kicker off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, and following in the footsteps of his Lou Groza Award-winning brother, Borregales delivered a strong rookie season that included a trip to Super Bowl LX.
Path to the league
Borregales starred at Miami from 2021 to 2024, connecting on 74 of 86 career field goal attempts and going a perfect 169 for 169 on extra points, earning First-team All-ACC honors in 2023 and 2024. He left the Hurricanes as their all-time leading scorer with 405 career points. New England selected him 182nd overall in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the first kicker taken that year.
