Arik Armstead is a veteran Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman who moved back inside to tackle in 2025.
Armstead was a first-round pick out of Oregon by the 49ers in 2015 and spent nine seasons in San Francisco, reaching a Super Bowl along the way. He signed with Jacksonville in 2024 on a three-year deal. In 2025 he shifted back to defensive tackle under a new coaching staff, a spot he considers his best fit.
Path to the league
Armstead was a standout at Oregon and went 17th overall to the 49ers in the 2015 draft. He spent nine seasons in San Francisco, developing into a versatile and well-paid defensive lineman and helping the team reach Super Bowl LIV. He signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Jaguars in March 2024.

Per Wikipedia and the Jaguars, Armstead recorded 5.5 sacks and 28 tackles in 2025 while playing primarily at defensive tackle. He told the team he believed he still had a lot left in the tank entering his tenth NFL season. He remains under contract with Jacksonville for 2026.
