Former Jaguars third-rounder who worked his way back onto an NFL roster with New England after a stint on a practice squad.
Chad Muma was a productive Wyoming linebacker who Jacksonville drafted in the third round in 2022, but his path since has run through Indianapolis' practice squad before New England signed him to its 53-man roster in December 2025. He now competes for snaps in the Patriots' linebacker room.
Path to the league
Muma played four seasons at Wyoming, appearing in 42 games with 20 starts and earning first-team All-Mountain West honors in both 2020 and 2021. He finished his college career with 256 tackles, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown. Jacksonville selected him with the No. 70 overall pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, acquired in a trade with Carolina.

Muma appeared in 50 games over three seasons with the Jaguars, contributing on both defense and special teams as part of Jacksonville's linebacker rotation alongside first-round pick Devin Lloyd.
2025 season recap
