Christian Kuntz is the long snapper for the Pittsburgh Steelers, a role he settled into only after his path as a college pass rusher didn't translate to an NFL roster spot. His story of bouncing between four organizations before sticking in Pittsburgh has made him one of the more well-known long snappers in the league.
Path to the league
Kuntz played linebacker at Duquesne, where he set the program and Northeast Conference record with 30.5 career sacks, including 11.5 as a senior. He went undrafted in 2017 and signed with the New England Patriots, but soon shifted his focus to long snapping to extend his career.
Career highlights
After stints with the Patriots, Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad, Kuntz signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in August 2019 and spent 2020 on the practice squad before winning the long snapper job. In March 2024, the Steelers rewarded his consistency with a three-year contract extension through the 2026 season.

Kuntz continued his run as Pittsburgh's dependable long snapper in 2025, appearing in 10 regular-season games. As of November 2025, he had played in 78 career regular-season games and three postseason games, all with the Steelers.
