Cole Bishop arrived in Buffalo as a versatile Utah product who could line up all over the secondary, and by his second season he had become the engine of the Bills' defensive backfield. His 2025 leap - more tackles, more takeaways, more snaps - turned him into one of the league's most productive young safeties.

Path to the league

Bishop started 29 games over his Utah career, racking up 197 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, three interceptions and 14 pass breakups while playing single-high, two-deep, in the box and in the slot. The Buffalo Bills drafted him in the second round, 60th overall, of the 2024 NFL Draft, reuniting him with former Utah teammate Dalton Kincaid.

Career highlights

Bishop's rookie season in 2024 saw him work into Buffalo's safety rotation, finishing with 40 tackles and no interceptions as he adjusted to the pro game. His combination of 4.45 speed and a big frame made him a natural fit for a Bills defense that had lost key veteran pieces in the secondary.

2025 season recap

Bishop took over as a full-time starter in 2025 and led the Bills in both tackles and interceptions, finishing with 85 tackles, three interceptions, seven passes defensed and two sacks across 17 games. He allowed just a 65.6 passer rating when targeted, a top-five mark among NFL safeties.
