A five-year Penn State defensive tackle whose combine-caliber testing numbers didn't translate to a draft selection, sending him on a three-team journey as an undrafted free agent.
Coziah Izzard spent five seasons in Happy Valley developing into a disruptive interior lineman, but he went undrafted despite workout numbers that would have led his position group at the combine. He has since bounced between three organizations chasing a permanent NFL roster spot.
Path to the league
A four-star recruit out of DeMatha Catholic High School in Laurel, Maryland, Izzard played defensive tackle at Penn State from 2020 to 2024. He went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft despite testing numbers, including a top-five vertical jump and bench press among defensive tackles, that would have ranked among the best at the combine had he been invited.
Career highlights
Across 51 career games at Penn State, Izzard totaled 78 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks and two forced fumbles. In his final season in 2024, he appeared in 15 games, including the Big Ten championship and three College Football Playoff games, recording 31 tackles with 7.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.
2025 season recap
Izzard signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in May 2025 but was released during roster cuts. He caught on with the New Orleans Saints' practice squad that September and signed a reserve/future contract with the team in January 2026, continuing his search for a lasting NFL foothold.
