Former LSU and Cowboys linebacker who signed with Detroit in March 2026 after a busy 2025 that took him through Dallas and Houston.
Damone Clark spent his first stretch in the NFL with Dallas after the Cowboys drafted him in 2022 despite a spinal-fusion surgery that pushed him down the board. He grew into a starting role before a roster crunch ended his Cowboys tenure in 2025. He joins the Lions on a new deal for 2026.
Path to the league
Clark was an All-SEC linebacker at LSU who led the Tigers in tackles as a senior. He needed spinal-fusion surgery before the 2022 draft, and the Cowboys took him in the fifth round as a redshirt-style stash. He recovered to become a multi-year starter in Dallas.
2025 season
Clark opened 2025 as a backup under new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, appearing in eight games with 13 tackles. The Cowboys waived him on November 18, 2025 after the return of DeMarvion Overshown and the addition of Logan Wilson. Houston claimed him off waivers the next day, and the Lions signed him on March 18, 2026.
