A UFL breakout who parlayed a strong run with the Arlington Renegades into a Vikings roster spot and a genuine interior pass-rush role.
Jalen Redmond took an unconventional path to the NFL, going undrafted out of Oklahoma, getting waived by Carolina in 2023, and reviving his career in the UFL before signing with Minnesota in 2024. Two years later he has become one of the more productive interior defenders on the Vikings' defensive line.
Path to the league
Redmond played college football at Oklahoma from 2018 to 2022 before going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. He signed with the Carolina Panthers but was waived during training camp due to injury. Redmond then played for the Arlington Renegades in the UFL, recording 18 tackles, five for loss, and 4.5 sacks in four games, which led directly to Minnesota signing him in June 2024.
Career highlights
Redmond made Minnesota's roster in his first season with the club in 2024, starting two of 13 games and recording 18 tackles, six for loss, a sack and two passes defended. He remained with the Vikings on a one-year deal following his 2025 breakout, cementing his place on the interior defensive line.
2025 season recap
Redmond broke out in 2025, recording 62 tackles, 6.0 sacks, five pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble across 17 games with 15 starts. His 6.0 sacks ranked fourth on the Vikings, and he was among the NFL leaders in defensive splash plays for the season.
