The Pioneer Football League's 2024 Offensive Player of the Year after a 1,000-yard senior season at San Diego.
Ja'seem Reed is a rookie wide receiver trying to carve out a role with the Carolina Panthers after a decorated career at the University of San Diego. Undrafted in 2025, he has already worked through one NFL stop before landing in Carolina, where he is fighting for a practice-squad foothold.
Path to the league
Reed grew up in Thousand Oaks, California, and attended Westlake High School, where he received a single scholarship offer, from San Diego. He turned that offer into a four-year college career with the Toreros, developing into the program's top receiving threat before going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Reed finished his San Diego career with 155 receptions for 2,103 yards and 16 touchdowns. As a senior in 2024, he was the lone 1,000-yard receiver in the Pioneer Football League, earning First-team All-PFL honors and being named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year.
2025 season recap
Reed signed a three-year contract with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in April 2025 but was waived off injured reserve that June after an undisclosed injury. He signed with the Carolina Panthers in late July 2025, was cut at roster cuts in August, and was retained on Carolina's practice squad, where he closed out the season working to earn a promotion.
