Jawhar Jordan spent his first year and a half as a pro bouncing between the Texans' practice squad and active roster before finally getting his shot, and he made it count. His debut against the Arizona Cardinals in December 2025 instantly made him one of the more talked-about young backs on Houston's roster.

Path to the league

Jordan began his college career at Syracuse in 2019 and 2020 before transferring to Louisville, where he became a featured back. His best season came in 2022, when he rushed for 815 yards and four touchdowns and was named Fenway Bowl offensive MVP; he followed that with first-team All-ACC honors in 2023. He finished his Louisville career with 2,214 rushing yards on a 5.8 yards-per-carry average. The Houston Texans drafted him in the sixth round, 205th overall, of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Jordan's signature moment came in his first career NFL game, on December 14, 2025, against the Arizona Cardinals, when he rushed for 101 yards on 17 carries, added 17 receiving yards, and broke off a 50-yard run that set a Houston Texans franchise record for a player's NFL debut.

2025 season recap

Jordan spent most of 2025 on Houston's practice squad before being elevated and signed to the active roster on December 16, 2025, shortly after his breakout debut. He finished the season with 193 rushing yards on a 4.5-yard average along with seven receptions for 34 yards, becoming just the second player in franchise history to top 100 rushing yards in his NFL debut.
