A seventh-round find out of Texas A&M, Jaylon Jones forced his way into the Colts' starting lineup as a rookie and has been a fixture in the secondary ever since.
Jaylon Jones was a late-round afterthought on paper, but injuries opened a door in his rookie season and he never gave the job back. The physical, 6-foot-2 corner has developed into one of Indianapolis's more productive defensive backs, even while managing injuries of his own.
Path to the league
Jones started all 32 games he appeared in across three seasons at Texas A&M, racking up 98 tackles, 14 pass breakups, three interceptions and two tackles for loss, with experience at both cornerback and safety. The Colts selected him in the seventh round (No. 221 overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Jones opened his rookie year on special teams before a Week 4 injury to starter Dallis Flowers thrust him into the lineup; he started against Tennessee in Week 5 and held the job the rest of the season. He built on that in 2024, starting all 17 games and setting career highs with 100 tackles, two interceptions, 12 passes defensed and a forced fumble.
2025 season recap
Jones opened 2025 on injured reserve before being activated on November 1. Once back on the field, he recorded 18 tackles and four passes defended, continuing to contribute in Indianapolis's secondary despite the missed time.
