A Long Island native who came home to the Jets, Jeremy Ruckert has grown into a reliable every-down tight end since being drafted out of Ohio State.

Jeremy Ruckert has spent his entire career with the New York Jets, the team he grew up rooting for, and his role has expanded steadily each season. Now in his fifth year, he is valued as much for his blocking as his receiving, and the Jets rewarded that development with a contract extension in December 2025.

Path to the league

Ruckert played four seasons at Ohio State from 2018 to 2021, appearing in 44 games and catching 54 passes for 615 yards and 12 touchdowns. His best college season came in 2021, when he hauled in 26 receptions for 309 yards. The Jets selected him in the third round, 101st overall, of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Ruckert has carved out a role as a steady blocking tight end who has become more involved in the passing game each year in New York. His production and playing time increased in each of his first four NFL seasons, and the Jets signed him to a multi-year contract extension in December 2025 to keep him in green and white.

2025 season recap

Ruckert started 12 of the Jets' games in 2025 and played all 17 contests, finishing with 23 receptions for 179 yards, both career highs. His steady two-way play as a blocker and receiver helped solidify his standing as a core piece of New York's offense heading into the extension he signed that December.
