A Western Kentucky record-setter who became the first tight end in South Carolina history to lead the team in catches, yards and touchdowns.
Joshua Simon put together six college seasons across two programs, overcoming a knee injury along the way to finish as one of the most productive tight ends in Western Kentucky history before a standout final year at South Carolina. He went undrafted in 2025 but quickly found a home with the Falcons.
Path to the league
Simon played four seasons at Western Kentucky from 2019 to 2022 before transferring to South Carolina for his final two collegiate seasons. He went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft but signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent on April 28, 2025, roughly half an hour after the draft concluded.
Career highlights
Simon set Western Kentucky's program record for a tight end with 86 career receptions, 1,146 yards and 16 touchdowns, earning second-team Freshman All-American honors from The Athletic as a true freshman in 2019 before a knee injury cut his 2021 season short. At South Carolina in 2024, he caught 40 passes for 519 yards and seven touchdowns, becoming the first tight end in program history to lead the team in all three categories, and earned fourth-team All-SEC recognition from Phil Steele.
2025 season recap
Simon was waived by Atlanta during final roster cuts on August 26, 2025, and was re-signed to the practice squad the next day. He signed a reserve/futures contract with the Falcons on January 21, 2026, and remains a developmental piece in Atlanta's tight end room after a rookie year spent largely on the practice squad.
