A junior-college-to-D2 success story who went from zero Division I scholarship offers to a spot on an NFL active roster.
Kaden Davis is a well-traveled wide receiver and return specialist now with the Chicago Bears after a long climb through junior college, Division II football and years of NFL practice squads. Out of Ellsworth, Kansas, he received no NCAA Division I offers coming out of high school and has fought for every opportunity since.
Path to the league
Davis starred at Ellsworth High School in Kansas, posting 857 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior and earning a spot in the 2017 Kansas Shrine All-Star Bowl, the school's first selection in 25 years, but drew no Division I scholarship offers. He began his college career at Butler Community College before earning a full-ride scholarship to Northwest Missouri State, where he became a productive receiver and returner. He went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
At Northwest Missouri State, Davis totaled 55 receptions for 971 yards and 11 touchdowns over his career, highlighted by a senior season in which he led the team with 10 touchdown catches on 714 receiving yards and earned all-conference honors. He has since carved out a niche as a return specialist, including a stint in the USFL with the Michigan Panthers in 2023 that produced 416 all-purpose yards in five games.
2025 season recap
Davis signed with the Cleveland Browns' practice squad in December 2024 and was promoted to the active roster in January 2025, giving him his first NFL regular-season action. He continued bouncing between opportunities afterward, spending time in the UFL with the Houston Gamblers before signing with the Chicago Bears in mid-2026.
