An undrafted Penn State pass rusher who has spent his entire career with San Francisco, reaching three Super Bowls along the way.
Kevin Givens turned an undrafted free-agent tryout into an eight-year run with the 49ers, developing into a reliable interior pass rusher who has been part of three Super Bowl trips. A preseason pectoral injury cost him the start of the 2025 season.
Path to the league
Givens played five seasons at Penn State (2015-2018), earning Big Ten All-Freshman honors before posting 33 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and five sacks as a redshirt junior. He went undrafted in 2019 but signed with the 49ers, made the practice squad, and was promoted to the active roster in time for the team's run to Super Bowl LIV.
Career highlights
Through 2024, Givens appeared in 70 regular-season games with 14 starts for San Francisco, totaling 92 combined tackles, 8 sacks, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. He has appeared in nine playoff games, including Super Bowl trips following the 2019, 2023, and 2024 seasons. He re-signed with the 49ers in March 2025.
2025 season recap
A preseason pectoral injury sent Givens to injured reserve to start 2025. He was activated in October ahead of San Francisco's Week 7 game against Atlanta and appeared in five games down the stretch, working his way back into the interior rotation with modest production.
