Logan Jones is a rookie center for the Chicago Bears, selected in the second round (57th overall) of the 2026 NFL Draft after a decorated career at Iowa. The Council Bluffs, Iowa native switched from defensive line to center in college and developed into a unanimous All-American, and now wears No. 54, the first Bear to do so since Brian Urlacher's 2012 retirement.

Path to the league

A three-star recruit out of Lewis Central High School, Jones joined Iowa as a defensive lineman before switching to center prior to the 2022 season to replace Tyler Linderbaum. He redshirted in 2020 and was limited by a knee injury in 2021 before becoming a fixture on Iowa's offensive line. Chicago drafted him in the second round of the 2026 draft.

Career highlights

Jones started 49 games at center for Iowa from 2022 through 2025, earning third-team All-Big Ten in 2023 and first-team honors in both 2024 and 2025. He won the 2025 Rimington Trophy as the nation's top center, the Joe Moore Award with Iowa's offensive line, and was a unanimous First-team All-American.

2025 season recap

In his final Iowa season, Jones allowed just one sack and three quarterback pressures across 704 offensive snaps, posting a 90.2 pass-blocking grade that ranked first among all FBS centers. That performance capped his college career and made him a second-round pick, with the Bears signing him to a four-year, $8.468 million contract on June 5, 2026.
