An undrafted tight end who worked his way from Florida's bench to a starting role in Denver's offense.

Lucas Krull's path to the NFL ran through two college programs before he ever got a real shot as a pro. Now in his fourth year with the Broncos, he has become a trusted blocking and receiving option at tight end whenever he is healthy.

Path to the league

Krull began his college career at Eastern Florida State College before moving on to Florida, where he was a reserve tight end and special teams contributor. He transferred to Pittsburgh for the 2020 and 2021 seasons and broke out as a starter in 2021 with 38 catches for 451 yards and six touchdowns, earning second-team All-ACC honors. He went undrafted in 2022 and signed with the New Orleans Saints before Denver picked him up in 2023.

Career highlights

Krull appeared in just one game as a rookie with New Orleans before finding a role with the Broncos. Across three seasons in Denver he has caught 29 passes for 262 yards and a touchdown over 23 games, carving out a niche as a reliable in-line tight end.

2025 season recap

Krull started the first three games of the 2025 season for Denver before an injury cost him the rest of the year. He finished with just two catches for 15 yards in that limited action, a disappointing follow-up to a 2024 campaign in which he caught 19 passes for 152 yards.
