Mack Wilson Sr. arrived in the NFL with a national championship pedigree from Alabama and has developed into a reliable every-down linebacker. After starting his career in Cleveland and New England, he signed with the Cardinals in 2024 and was named a team captain in 2025, his best season yet before injury cut it short.
Path to the league
Wilson played at Alabama from 2016 to 2018, starting 17 of 42 games and recording 119 tackles, six interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and seven pass breakups before forgoing his senior season to enter the draft. The Cleveland Browns selected him in the fifth round, 155th overall, of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Wilson spent his first five NFL seasons with Cleveland (2019-2021) and New England (2022-2023) before signing a three-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent in March 2024. Across his first seven seasons he appeared in 101 games with 56 starts, totaling 347 tackles, 9.0 sacks and three interceptions. He was named a Cardinals team captain for the first time in 2025 and took over as the starting 'Mike' linebacker.
2025 season recap
Wilson was off to the best start of his career in 2025, helping Arizona's defense rank inside the top 10 in points allowed through the season's first nine weeks. He started all eight games he played, totaling 60 tackles, three tackles for loss, six passes defensed, an interception and a forced fumble before a ribs injury suffered against Dallas in Week 9 landed him on injured reserve and ended his season.
