Malaki Starks arrived in Baltimore as the 27th overall pick in the 2025 draft after three seasons anchoring one of the best defenses in college football at Georgia. Versatile enough to line up deep, in the slot or in the box, he gave the Ravens exactly the kind of do-everything safety they were looking for to pair alongside Kyle Hamilton.

Path to the league

Starks was a three-year starter at Georgia and part of the Bulldogs' 2022 national championship team. He totaled six interceptions and 23 passes defensed over his college career and was a second-team All-American in his final season, leading Georgia in tackles. The Ravens took him with the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Starks started 15 of 17 games as a rookie, finishing with 84 tackles, four passes defensed and two interceptions across roughly 1,060 defensive snaps. He picked off passes in back-to-back games late in the season, including a key interception in a win over Minnesota, and finished with the third-most interceptions and fourth-most tackles on Baltimore's defense.
