Michael Dickson turned punting into an art form at Texas and has kept that reputation intact through eight-plus NFL seasons with the Seahawks. A two-time All-Pro, he ranks among the most statistically dominant punters ever to play the position.
Path to the league
Dickson, born in Australia, played college football at Texas, where in 2017 he won the Ray Guy Award as the nation's top punter and was a unanimous All-American. He finished his Longhorns career as Texas's all-time leader in punting average at 45.32 yards per punt. Seattle selected him in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Career highlights
Dickson earned Associated Press first-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl selection as a rookie in 2018, a rare feat for a punter. Through the 2024 season his career punting average of 48.2 yards ranked third in NFL history, and he has since added a second All-Pro nod.
2025 season recap
Dickson was named second-team All-Pro during Seattle's Super Bowl LX-winning 2025 season. In the postseason he landed 10 of his 15 punts inside the 20-yard line, including three in the Super Bowl itself, a key part of the Seahawks' field-position battle in their championship run.
