Ollie Gordon II

Running Back · Oklahoma State

The 2023 Doak Walker Award winner who found a short-yardage niche as a rookie in Miami.

Ollie Gordon II arrived in the NFL as a former Doak Walker Award winner whose draft stock slid after an underwhelming final season at Oklahoma State. The Dolphins traded up to grab him in the sixth round of the 2025 draft, and he carved out a physical, early-down complement to Miami's backfield as a rookie.

Path to the league

Gordon rushed for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2023 to win the Doak Walker Award as college football's top running back, but his production dropped to 880 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2024 as Oklahoma State struggled as a team. The Dolphins selected him with the 179th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.

Career highlights

Over his Oklahoma State career, Gordon showed he could be more than a between-the-tackles runner, catching 73 passes for 518 yards and three touchdowns across 32 games, along with his standout 2023 Doak Walker season.

2025 season recap

As a rookie, Gordon played all 17 games with one start, carrying 70 times for 199 yards (2.8 yards per carry) and three touchdowns, adding seven catches for 32 yards and a receiving score. He was used almost exclusively as a short-yardage and goal-line option, never topping ten carries in a single game, but provided a physical element to Miami's ground game.
