Olu Fashanu arrived in New York as a top-15 pick with a reputation as one of the cleanest pass-blocking tackles in his draft class, and after an injury-interrupted rookie year he has become a fixture protecting the Jets' quarterback. At 6-foot-6 and 312 pounds, he remains one of the most talented young tackles in the league.
Path to the league
Fashanu redshirted his first year at Penn State before developing into the Nittany Lions' starting left tackle by 2022. As a senior in 2023 he did not allow a sack across more than 700 pass-blocking snaps, earning consensus All-American honors and the Big Ten's Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year award. The Jets selected him with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Fashanu's dominant 2023 season at Penn State made him one of the top tackle prospects in his draft class, and he was drafted in the top half of the first round as a result. As a rookie, he stepped in at right tackle before taking over at left tackle in Week 11 following an injury to Tyron Smith and starting five consecutive games.
