Omar Speights signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2024 after a college career that took him from Oregon State to LSU. He has since climbed the depth chart into a starting linebacker role, becoming one of the more productive tacklers on the Los Angeles defense.

Path to the league

A Philadelphia native, Speights began his college career at Oregon State, where he earned All-Pac-12 honors in 2022, before transferring to LSU for his final season in 2023. He went unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft and signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent, making the 53-man roster out of training camp.

Career highlights

Speights ascended to a starting role during his rookie season after injuries opened up snaps in the Rams' linebacker room. He played all 17 games in 2024 with 10 starts, finishing with 67 tackles and two passes defensed, and Pro Football Focus tabbed him as one of the Rams' top breakout candidates heading into his second season.

2025 season recap

Speights delivered on that breakout billing in 2025, recording 85 tackles and a pass defensed across 16 games despite battling a high-ankle sprain that cost him time and lingered on the injury report late in the year. His snap count and tackle production both jumped significantly from his rookie campaign.
