Shy Tuttle

Undrafted defensive tackle out of Tennessee who has forged a seven-year NFL career through the Saints, Panthers, Titans and now Washington.

Shy Tuttle overcame two season-ending injuries in college to build a durable NFL career as an interior run-stuffer. After stops in New Orleans and Carolina, he was claimed off waivers in late 2025 and now brings veteran depth to Washington's defensive line.

Path to the league

Tuttle's Tennessee career was interrupted by a broken fibula as a freshman and a season-ending injury as a sophomore, but he bounced back to start all 12 games as a senior with 33 tackles, a sack, an interception and two blocked kicks. He went undrafted in 2019 and signed with the New Orleans Saints.

Career highlights

Tuttle made an immediate impact as a rookie, intercepting a Matt Ryan pass on Thanksgiving in 2019. He signed a three-year, $19.5 million deal with Carolina in 2023 and started all 17 games that season, recording 43 tackles.

2025 season recap

Tuttle signed with the Tennessee Titans in August 2025 but appeared in only 10 games (one start) with 11 tackles before being released in December. Washington claimed him off waivers on December 22, 2025, and signed him to a one-year extension in March 2026.
