A well-traveled receiver who scored his first career NFL touchdown with the Titans before resurfacing through the UFL.

Tay Martin is a 6-foot-1 receiver from Houma, Louisiana, who transferred from Washington State to Oklahoma State and has since bounced through four NFL organizations. After a UFL stint with the Columbus Aviators in 2026, he joined the Detroit Lions, bringing veteran experience to a crowded receiver room.

Path to the league

Martin began his college career at Washington State (2017-2019) before transferring to Oklahoma State for his final two seasons. He had his best year in 2021, catching 80 passes for 1,046 yards and 10 touchdowns while leading Oklahoma State in receiving and earning second-team All-Big 12 honors. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2022.

Career highlights

Martin spent three seasons cycling between the 49ers' active roster and practice squad before later stints with the Tennessee Titans and Washington. His signature NFL moment came in Week 18 of the 2024 season, when he caught a 49-yard touchdown pass from Will Levis in a game against Houston, part of a career line of three receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown.

2025 season recap

After his run through the Titans and Washington organizations, Martin signed with the UFL's Columbus Aviators for the 2026 spring season and led the team with 42 receptions for 483 yards and two touchdowns, ranking third in the league in catches. That performance helped him land with the Detroit Lions in June 2026.
