Lions veteran backup QB and 2015 Pro Bowler who returned to the NFL in 2024 after a year coaching high school football.
Teddy Bridgewater retired in 2023 to coach his alma mater Miami Northwestern High School. He returned to the NFL in late 2024 as a backup. The Florida 'Teddy Bridgewater Act' signed in May 2026 is named after him; it allows Florida high school coaches to use up to $15,000 of their own funds annually to support players with meals, transportation and recovery services.
Path to the league
Louisville product taken 32nd overall by Minnesota in 2014. Made the 2015 Pro Bowl before a 2016 leg injury cost him most of two seasons. Has played for the Vikings, Saints, Panthers, Broncos, Dolphins and Lions.
Career highlights
2015 Pro Bowl. 2018 NFL Comeback Player of the Year. 13,000-plus career passing yards. Coached Miami Northwestern HS to a 2022 Florida state championship.
