An Idaho-bred, Ohio State-trained run stuffer who has grown into a reliable interior rotation piece.
Tommy Togiai came out of Ohio State as a compact, powerful interior defender built to eat up run-blocking double teams. He has since developed into a dependable rotational lineman capable of stepping into a starting role when called upon.
Path to the league
The Cleveland Browns drafted Togiai in the fourth round (132nd overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. A native of Pocatello, Idaho, he was a highly touted four-star recruit and the state's 2017 Gatorade Player of the Year before becoming a one-year starter for the Buckeyes, earning Second Team All-Big Ten honors in 2020 after recording 23 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and three sacks.
Career highlights
Togiai has carved out a role as a run-stopping three-technique and occasional nose tackle, valued for his explosiveness and balance for his size. He has since moved on from Cleveland and settled in as part of Houston's interior defensive line rotation.
2025 season recap
Togiai recorded 59 tackles, 1.5 sacks, four pass breakups and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown across 15 games for Houston in 2025. He spent much of the season in a rotational role before stepping into a starting job late in the year after injuries to Folorunso Fatukasi, Tim Settle and Mario Edwards.
