Tremon Smith

Tremon Smith is a cornerback and kick returner who is back for a second stint with the Houston Texans.

Tremon Smith built a long NFL career on special teams after being drafted out of Central Arkansas in 2018. Known as a dangerous kick returner, he has suited up for several clubs across the league. He returned to Houston on a two-year deal in 2025.

Path to the league

Smith, an Alabama native, played cornerback at Central Arkansas, where he piled up 15 interceptions over four years and earned third-team FCS All-America honors in 2017. The Kansas City Chiefs took him in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He has since played for Kansas City, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Denver and Houston.

2025 season

Smith signed a two-year, $7.5 million deal to return to the Texans on March 14, 2025, beginning his eighth NFL season. His value centers on the return game and special-teams coverage, where he has long been one of his teams' more explosive options.
