Tyler Badie is a running back and returner for the Denver Broncos who has carved out a niche as a change-of-pace back and special teams contributor. After a standout college career at Missouri, his path to NFL relevance ran through a practice squad detour before he found a home in Denver.

Path to the league

Badie was a four-year workhorse at Missouri from 2018 to 2021, finishing with 513 carries for 2,740 yards and 23 touchdowns while adding 126 receptions for 1,149 yards and 11 more scores. His senior season was his best, with a program-record 1,604 rushing yards on 268 carries and 14 touchdowns, earning him First-team All-SEC and second-team All-American honors. The Baltimore Ravens drafted him in the sixth round, 196th overall, in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Career highlights

Badie was waived by Baltimore before his rookie season but landed on the practice squad, and Denver claimed him off it in December 2022. He scored a touchdown on his very first NFL touch, a 24-yard catch-and-run from Russell Wilson in his Week 18 debut. He has since settled in as a depth back and kickoff returner for the Broncos.

2025 season recap

Badie appeared in a reserve role for Denver in 2025, rushing 20 times for 109 yards while adding 23 receptions for 163 yards and a touchdown out of the backfield. He also contributed 452 return yards, underscoring his value as a special teams weapon alongside his limited offensive touches.
