Tyler Bass has been Buffalo's kicker since beating out a veteran incumbent as a rookie in 2020, cementing himself as one of the more reliable legs in franchise history. A pelvic injury wiped out his 2025 season, but he enters 2026 looking to reclaim the job that earned him a lucrative extension.
Path to the league
Bass kicked for Georgia Southern, where he tied the school record with 19 field goals in a season in 2018 and made 20 more in 2019 while finishing his college career at a 79 percent clip. The Bills drafted him in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 188th overall.
Career highlights
Bass won the Bills' starting job during his rookie training camp and has held it ever since. In Week 9 of his rookie season he hit a franchise-record 61-yard field goal as time expired to beat Miami, and in 2023 he signed a four-year, $21 million extension. He has also been a reliable postseason kicker, going perfect across multiple playoff games.
2025 season recap
Bass missed the entire 2025 season after a pelvic injury required surgery; the Bills placed him on injured reserve in early September and he did not return to action. He carries a career field-goal percentage near 84.5 percent into his return.
