Cleveland Browns defensive end Alex Wright ruptured his Achilles during a joint practice with the Buffalo Bills last week and has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, prompting the team to sign veteran Derek Barnett.

Wright, 25, was hurt pass-rushing against Bills tackle Spencer Brown in a one-on-one drill. He posted a career-high 5.5 sacks last season and signed a three-year, $33 million extension in November.
Who fills the void?
Cleveland signed Derek Barnett to a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million. Barnett, the Eagles' first-round pick in 2017, recorded 21.5 sacks over seven seasons in Philadelphia and won a Super Bowl there as a rookie.
