Lions Linebacker Jack Campbell Hospitalized With Neck Injury; Team Says Early Signs Are Positive
Campbell was strapped to a backboard and taken off on a cart early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 19-15 win over Minnesota. He was alert and breathing when he left the field.
Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell remained in a hospital Monday being evaluated for a neck injury he sustained in Sunday's 19-15 win over the Minnesota Vikings. The team said "preliminary indications are positive" and that it would not share more for now out of respect for Campbell and his family.
What happened?
Early in the fourth quarter, after making his third tackle of the game, Campbell stayed face down on the field. He was strapped to a backboard and carted off, alert and breathing. "We're thinking about him," coach Dan Campbell said after the game. No timeline for his return has been given.
