Cardinals' Will Johnson Could Miss the Rest of the Season With Neck Injury
The second-year cornerback left Sunday's loss to Seattle in the second half. Mike LaFleur said it is not yet clear whether surgery will be needed, and Starling Thomas takes over his role.
Arizona Cardinals cornerback Will Johnson may miss the remainder of the season with a neck injury suffered in Sunday's 31-7 loss to Seattle, coach Mike LaFleur said Monday. "Will's got a neck, potentially could miss the whole season," LaFleur said.
What is known so far?
Johnson, a 2025 second-round pick from Michigan, left in the second half, and the team has not said exactly when he was hurt. LaFleur said he did not yet know whether surgery would be required. Johnson had eight tackles, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery in two games.
Who plays in his place?
Veteran Starling Thomas. "Star's played a lot of football here, Star's played good football and I think Star's in a good spot headspace-wise," LaFleur said. Cornerback Max Melton is day-to-day with a toe injury from the same game. Arizona is 1-1 and visits San Francisco on Sunday.
