Eagles Will 'Lean Into' the Tush Push, New OC Sean Mannion Says
Philadelphia's fourth offensive coordinator in four years confirms the signature short-yardage play stays central to the offense.
Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion confirmed the team will continue relying on the tush push in 2026. "It's going to be a part of what we do. It's been an extremely effective play here," Mannion said.
How central will the play remain?
Mannion made clear it isn't going anywhere despite years of league-wide scrutiny and failed attempts to ban it. "We're going to lean into that," he said. "It's something this organization has executed at a high level. So along with many other elements to our offense, certainly, it's something that will be a part of it."
Who is Sean Mannion?
Mannion, 34, is Philadelphia's fourth offensive coordinator in four years under coach Nick Sirianni. A former Oregon State record-setting quarterback, he played nine NFL seasons with the Rams, Vikings and Seahawks before moving into coaching, most recently as the Packers' quarterbacks coach.
What else is he bringing to the offense?
Mannion is installing an under-center, play-action-heavy scheme with influences from the Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay coaching trees, layering new wrinkles onto an offense that will still feature the tush push as one of its core short-yardage tools.
