Police Close Case Into Death of Ed Oliver's Son, No Criminal Findings

The Harris County Sheriff's Office concluded its investigation into the June death of the Bills defensive tackle's nearly 2-year-old son with no charges filed.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office in Texas announced Monday that it has closed its investigation into the June death of Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver's son, finding no criminal wrongdoing and confirming no charges will be filed.

What happened?

Oliver's son, also named Ed, died on June 28 after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a home north of Houston, days before his second birthday. The Bills' organization acknowledged the death at the time through a statement from general manager Brandon Beane.

What did the investigation find?

The Sheriff's Office Homicide Division confirmed its investigation found no criminal findings and that no charges will be filed against Oliver or anyone else. Law enforcement has characterized the death as accidental. Oliver has asked for privacy while his family mourns.
