Jay-Z Will Headline the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show
The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation made the announcement Monday night. The game is Feb. 14 at SoFi Stadium, and Jay-Z's company has helped produce the halftime show since 2019.
Jay-Z will perform the halftime show at Super Bowl LXI on Feb. 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Monday night. "From 'Reasonable Doubt' to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey," he said in a statement.
Why is this notable?
Jay-Z's Roc Nation has partnered with the NFL since 2019 to advise on and produce the league's entertainment, including halftime shows, and he had long said he would not perform himself. In 2019 he recalled telling Roger Goodell, "If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now." Goodell said his one request was that Jay-Z take the stage "whenever the moment felt right to him."
What else is known?
Roc Nation will executive produce the show and Hamish Hamilton will direct. No guest performers have been announced. The game airs on ESPN and ABC and streams on Disney+.
