NFL Reviewing Two Incidents Involving Officials From Week 4
A line judge appeared to curse at Cardinals tight end Trey McBride, and referee Adrian Hill appeared to yell at Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson after being knocked down. The players' union called the first incident unacceptable.
The NFL is looking into two separate confrontations between game officials and players from Sunday's games. In one, line judge Jeff Seeman was caught on camera apparently cursing at Arizona tight end Trey McBride. In the other, referee Adrian Hill appeared to shout at Minnesota linebacker Eric Wilson after Wilson ran into him.
What happened in the Cardinals game?
With about five minutes left in Arizona's loss to the Giants, McBride was contacted by defender Dru Phillips before the ball arrived on third-and-2 and no flag was thrown. Cameras then caught Seeman apparently using profanity toward McBride. The league confirmed it is reviewing the exchange. JC Tretter, executive director of the NFL Players Association, said: "This kind of behavior from an official towards a player is unacceptable."
And in Minneapolis?
In the first quarter of the Vikings' 15-10 win over Miami, the play had been whistled dead for a neutral zone infraction when Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon kept blocking Wilson, who collided with Hill and knocked him over. Hill got up and appeared to yell at Wilson while pointing him away. No flag was thrown and Wilson was not ejected. The two spoke at halftime. "I ended up apologizing to him and explained the situation. He was cool about it," Wilson said. "He said he was just trying to break us up."
