Jadeveon Clowney Returns to Texans on One-Year Deal
The 2014 No. 1 overall pick reunites with the team that drafted him after stops in six other cities, joining a pass rush already featuring Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter.
Jadeveon Clowney is returning to the Houston Texans on a one-year deal, reuniting with the franchise that made him the No. 1 overall pick in 2014. "It was a really easy decision. It wasn't about the money," Clowney said.
Where has he been since his first stint in Houston?
Clowney last played for the Texans in 2018 before moving through Seattle, Tennessee, Cleveland, Baltimore, Carolina and, most recently, Dallas in 2025, where he led the Cowboys with 8.5 sacks across 13 games. Now 33, he's a three-time Pro Bowler with 66.5 career sacks.
Why Houston, and why now?
Clowney said he had multiple offers but chose the Texans in part because he already lives in Houston. He also framed the move around mentorship: "I feel like I can help the younger guys. I've learned how to lead and what it takes to get to a Super Bowl."
How does he fit the pass rush?
Clowney joins a group that already includes Will Anderson Jr., who had 12 sacks last season, and Danielle Hunter, who had 15. Adding a proven veteran gives Houston another experienced presence off the edge as it tries to build on last year's production.
